CAREER OPPORTUNITIES AT IMPRESSIVE PLATTERS

CHEF DE PARTIE
The Chef de Partie will supervise and coordinate activities of other cooks (often within a designated section of the kitchen), also engaged in preparing and cooking food. The Chef De Partie will follow the direction of the Head Chef, Chef de Cuisine and/or Sous Chefs in maintaining the highest standards of food quality, taste and production. 

         Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes within your specialty/section
  • Managing and training any demi-chefs working with you
  • Helping the Head Chef and Sous Chefs to ensure consistency with food production
  • Ensuring a high standard of food hygiene and adhering to all health and safety rules
  • Monitoring portion and waste control

    Key Skills Needed:

PASTRY CHEF
The Pastry Chef reports directly to the culinary leadership team. The Pastry Chef prepares quality pastries such as breakfast items, desserts, breads, creams, syrups, mousses, fruit curds, coulis, sauces and composed mini pastries, plated desserts, and buffet items. They assist in complying with all applicable sanitation, health and personal hygiene standards and follow established food production programs and procedures.

         Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing a wide variety of goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, bread, etc
  • Ability to follow traditional and new, innovative recipes
  • Work with the culinary leadership team to create new and exciting pastries and desserts to engage the interest of customers
  • Decorate pastries using a variety of different icings, toppings, etc, ensuring eye-catching presentation
  • Guiding and monitoring pastry assistants 

    Key Skills Needed:
  • Great attention to detail and creativity
  • Organisational and leadership skills
  • Ability to constantly replenish professional knowledge
  • Ability to innovate and learn new cooking techniques
  • Knowledge of baking for special dietary requirements (gluten free, fructose free, etc)


COMMIS CHEF/COOK
The Commis Chef/Cook is responsible for preparing and/or directing the preparation of food to be served, complying with all applicable sanitation, health and personal hygiene standards and following established food production programs and procedures. The Commis Chef/Cook will work under the supervision of a Chef De Partie or section chef, and may rotate through sections. This is a great position for a chef who is looking to learn all there is to know about the trade! A Commis chef/cook is also responsible for appropriate use of facility supplies and equipment to minimise loss and waste.

         Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing ingredients for senior chefs
  • Accurately measuring dish ingredients and portion sizes
  • Maintaining high standards of hygiene
  • Dealing with deliveries and stock rotation

    Key Skills Needed:
  • Physical stamina
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Proficient cooking skills
  • Ability to listen to instructions and execute them quickly and proficiently


SANDWICH ARTIST/CATERING ASSISTANT
A Sandwich Artist/Catering Assistant is responsible for helping out in the kitchen, under the direction of chefs and catering supervisors. They are largely responsible for maintaining exceptional hygiene and cleanliness standards in the kitchen, as well as carrying out basic food preparation tasks, such as washing and peeling food. They will also be required to learn how to make a range of sandwiches and assist the head Sandwich Artist/Chef as needed.

         Key Responsibilities:    

  • Helping the chef with basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling, trimming, and washing food items. 
  • Ensuring the chef has quick access to equipment he/she will need
  • Cleaning the kitchen, including washing appliances, work surfaces, floors, and walls
  • Helping to load and unload the dishwasher

    Key Skills Needed:
  • Ability to listen to instructions and carry them out effectively
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • High standard of personal hygiene
  • Ability to work efficiently and keep calm under pressure
  • An interest in food and corporate catering


KITCHEN HAND / DISHWASHER
A Kitchen Hand/Dishwasher supports the day-to-day running of a busy corporate kitchen. They are primarily responsible for maintaining orderliness of equipment, sanitation of the kitchen, and clearing and washing dishes. They may also be required to assist with basic food preparation as the need arises, under the direction of the chef and catering supervisors.

         Key Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning kitchen, including work surfaces, floors, walls, and washing dishes
  • Regular deep cleaning of kitchen appliances, such as fridges and freezers
  • Re-setting the kitchen after close of service, ready for the following day
  • Assisting with basic food preparation tasks, such as washing and chopping vegetables, and preparing ingredients for the chef

    Key Skills Needed:
  • Good multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stay calm under pressure
  • Good communication skills and ability to listen to instructions
  • High standards of personal hygiene


ADMINISTRATIVE CLERK
An Administrative Clerk is a focused, industrious, and highly organised team member required to perform a variety of clerical duties to help keep the office running smoothly. They will work under the supervision of the Office Manager, and will deal directly with customers and suppliers. They will also help with creating food orders, invoicing clients, and ensuring all administrative aspects of the business run efficiently.  

         Key Responsibilities:

  • Making and answering telephone calls
  • Communicating directly with customers, employees, and others to answer questions, assist with placing orders, address complaints, and explain company information
  • Operate office machinery, including photocopiers, scanners, voicemail systems, software applications and databases efficiently
  • Compile and maintain records of office activities and business transactions 
  • Perform basic bookkeeping and banking transactions

    Key Skills Needed:
  • Proficient in the use of computers and various databases software, and willingness to learn new systems
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team
  • Basic ability to work office equipment, such as telephones, printers, fax machines, etc. 


DELIVERY DRIVER

A Delivery Driver is a valued member of the delivery operations team. This job will primarily consist of local vehicle operations between company and client sites. Food deliveries will be required throughout Melbourne CBD, Metro and outer suburbs. Some basic food preparation, under the guidance of the Sous Chef may be involved.

         Key Responsibilities:

  • Loading, transporting, and delivering items from company sites to clients or businesses in a safe and timely manner
  • Reviewing orders before and after delivery to ensure that orders are properly completed
  • Assisting with loading and unloading items from vehicles
  • Occasionally accepting payments for delivered items when instructed by distribution manager
  • Providing excellent customer service
  • Adhering to assigned driving routes and sticking to time schedules 
  • Abiding by all transportation laws and upholding a clean driving record

    Key Skills Needed:
  • Clean driving record and valid Victorian driver’s license
  • Willingness to follow assigned routes, schedules, safety procedures, and transportation laws
  • Good time management and exceptional customer service skills
  • Ability to assist with loading and unloading heavy items from vehicles
